About Reduce Image Size in KB

Reduce Image Size in KB compresses a photo until it fits an exact limit you set, such as 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Indian exam and job portals - SSC, UPSC, RRB, IBPS bank forms, state PSC sites and university admission pages - reject uploads over their KB limit, and this tool hits that number without you guessing at a quality slider. Everything is done inside your browser, so the document photo stays on your computer.

How to use Reduce Image Size in KB

  1. Add the photo or signature scan you need to upload.
  2. Type your limit in the size box, or tap a chip: 10, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200 or 500 KB.
  3. Switch the unit to MB if the form asks for a size in megabytes.
  4. Pick JPG for government portals, or WEBP if the site accepts it.
  5. Click Reduce size and download the file - the result name and note show the final KB and pixel size.

What people use it for

  • Getting a passport photo between 20 KB and 50 KB for an SSC CGL or UPSC application upload.
  • Fitting a scanned signature under 10 KB or 20 KB for an IBPS or RRB registration form.
  • Shrinking a scanned marksheet or Aadhaar copy to the 100 KB or 200 KB cap on a college admission portal.
  • Making a photo small enough for a state PSC or police recruitment site that rejects anything bigger.

Good to know

The tool searches for the highest JPG or WEBP quality that still fits under your limit, and only reduces the pixel dimensions if quality alone is not enough. Aggressive targets like 10 KB from a 6 MB photo will visibly soften the face, so crop to just the photo area first. The output is always at or below your limit, never above it. Transparency is flattened to white.

Frequently asked questions

Will the result be exactly 50 KB?
It will be at or just under 50 KB, which is what forms check. Portals specify a maximum, so landing slightly below is safe. If a form also sets a minimum, use the Increase Image Size in KB tool.
My form wants 20 KB to 50 KB - what should I enter?
Enter 50 KB. The result lands close to but under 50 KB, which satisfies both ends of that range for almost every photo. Check the final KB shown next to the download before uploading.
Does it change the photo dimensions?
Only when it has to. Quality is lowered first, and the pixel size is reduced only if the target is still not met. The note beside the result shows the final width and height.
Is it safe to use for Aadhaar or marksheet scans?
Yes. The file is processed by your own browser and is never uploaded to us, so the document does not leave your device. Results are cleared when you close the tab.
