About Image Resizer

Image Resizer changes the pixel dimensions of a photo in three ways: exact width and height, a percentage of the original, or a ready-made preset. The preset list covers the sizes Indian applicants actually need - 413x531 passport, 200x230 for SSC and UPSC forms, 350x350 for PAN and Aadhaar, 140x60 signature - plus Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn sizes. Resizing happens in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded anywhere.

How to use Image Resizer

  1. Drop one or many images onto the box - the width and height of the first one are filled in for you.
  2. Pick a resize mode: By pixels, By percentage, or Presets.
  3. For pixels, type a width and keep Lock ratio on so the photo is not stretched.
  4. For a preset, choose the size and set Fit to cover, contain or stretch, and pick a pad colour if you use contain.
  5. Click Resize images, then download each file or grab them all as a ZIP.

What people use it for

  • Shrinking a 4000-pixel phone photo to the 200x230 pixels an SSC or UPSC application form accepts.
  • Making a 413x531 passport-style photo at 35x45 mm and a 140x60 signature strip for a bank or exam form.
  • Batch-resizing 50 product photos to one width before uploading them to an online store.
  • Preparing a 1280x720 YouTube thumbnail or a 1584x396 LinkedIn banner from a bigger design.

Good to know

Accepts JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, SVG and AVIF, and saves as JPG, PNG, WEBP or the same format as the input. Downscaling is done in steps so text and faces stay sharp. Enlarging past the original size cannot invent detail, so a small photo will look soft. JPG and BMP have no transparency, so PNG transparency is filled with white or your pad colour.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing reduce the file size in KB too?
Usually yes, because fewer pixels mean fewer bytes, but this tool targets dimensions, not KB. If a form demands a file under 50 KB, use the Reduce Image Size in KB tool instead.
Which preset should I use for a passport photo?
Use the 413x531 preset, which is 35x45 mm at 300 dpi - the standard Indian passport and visa photo size. For SSC or UPSC application uploads, 200x230 is the common requirement.
Will my photo look stretched?
Not if Lock ratio is ticked in pixel mode, or if Fit is set to cover or contain in preset mode. Stretch is the only option that distorts the picture, and it is never the default.
Can I resize many images at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and they are processed one after another in your browser. In batch pixel mode each image keeps its own aspect ratio from the width you enter.
