About Rotate & Flip Image

Rotate & Flip Image straightens photos and mirrors them. One-click buttons handle 90 degrees left, 90 degrees right and 180 degrees, a slider sets any custom angle from -180 to 180 degrees, and separate buttons flip horizontally or vertically. A live preview shows the result before you commit, and the same settings can be applied to a whole batch. All of it runs in your browser.

How to use Rotate & Flip Image

  1. Add one or more images - the first one appears as a live preview.
  2. Use the 90 degree left, 90 degree right or 180 degree buttons for quick fixes.
  3. Drag the custom angle slider to straighten a tilted photo or scan by a few degrees.
  4. Use Flip horizontal or Flip vertical to mirror the image, and Reset to start over.
  5. Pick transparent corners or a background colour, choose an output format, and click Apply to all.

What people use it for

  • Turning a sideways phone photo of a document the right way up before printing it.
  • Straightening a scanned certificate that went into the scanner a few degrees crooked.
  • Mirroring a photo taken with a front camera so text in it reads the correct way round.
  • Rotating a batch of holiday or event photos that all came out in the wrong orientation.

Good to know

Rotating by an angle other than a multiple of 90 makes the canvas larger and leaves empty corners - keep the transparent corners box ticked for PNG or WEBP, or pick a background colour. JPG and BMP cannot store transparency, so corners are filled automatically. Output can be PNG, JPG, WEBP or the same format as the input, saved at high quality.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating lose image quality?
A 90 or 180 degree rotation is effectively lossless in terms of pixels. Any other angle resamples the image slightly, and saving as JPG adds a small amount of compression.
Can I rotate many photos the same way?
Yes. Add them all, set the angle and flips once on the preview, then click Apply to all and the same transformation is used for every file in the list.
Why are there white corners after I rotate?
A tilted image no longer fills a rectangle, so the corners are empty. They stay transparent in PNG and WEBP; in JPG or BMP they are filled with the background colour you chose.
Does this fix a photo rotated the wrong way by EXIF data?
Yes. The image is drawn as your browser displays it and saved fresh, so the corrected orientation is baked into the pixels rather than left to an EXIF tag.
