About Image to CSV

Image to CSV extracts a table from a photo or screenshot and saves it as a plain CSV file - the format almost every accounting package, database import screen and script can read. OCR runs in your browser, locates each word, and groups them into rows and columns you can correct in an editable grid before downloading. The CSV is written with a UTF-8 marker so Hindi and other Indian-script text opens correctly in Excel.

How to use Image to CSV

  1. Add a straight-on photo or screenshot of the table you want as CSV.
  2. Pick the languages present in the table before running it.
  3. Click Extract table and let the OCR engine read the image.
  4. Correct any wrong cells directly in the grid, and add a row or column if needed.
  5. Click Download CSV to save the file.

What people use it for

  • Feeding a photographed stock or inventory list into Tally, Zoho Books or another accounting package.
  • Preparing a CSV of names and roll numbers from a printed list for a bulk upload form.
  • Getting a screenshot of a report table into a form a Python or Excel script can process.
  • Converting a printed rate card into CSV so it can be imported into a billing system.

Good to know

CSV holds values only - no fonts, colours, merged cells or formulas. Rows and columns are worked out from the spacing between words, so tilted photos, wrapped text and merged headings can split or run together. Check the grid before downloading. The file is saved with a UTF-8 byte order mark so Excel shows Hindi, Tamil and other scripts correctly instead of garbled characters.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose CSV instead of Excel?
CSV is a plain text format that any system can import - accounting software, databases, scripts and bulk upload forms. Pick the Image to Excel tool instead if you want a formatted .xlsx workbook.
Will Hindi text open correctly in Excel?
Yes. The CSV is written with a UTF-8 byte order mark, which tells Excel to read the file as Unicode so Devanagari and other Indian scripts display properly.
What kind of image works best?
A flat, straight, well-lit screenshot or scan of a printed table with clear gaps between columns. Angled phone photos, shadows and handwriting all reduce accuracy sharply.
Can I fix mistakes before downloading?
Yes. Every cell in the detected grid is editable, and you can add extra rows or columns, so the CSV you download reflects your corrections.
