About Markdown to HTML

Markdown to HTML is a live editor: type or paste Markdown on the left and see both the rendered page and the generated HTML on the right as you go. It understands GitHub-flavoured Markdown, so tables, fenced code blocks and task lists all work. Copy the HTML into a CMS or download a complete styled page. Everything renders in your browser, nothing is saved on a server.

How to use Markdown to HTML

  1. Type in the left pane, or use Open .md to load an existing Markdown file.
  2. Watch the Preview tab render your document as you type.
  3. Switch to the HTML tab to see the generated markup.
  4. Click Copy HTML for the fragment, or Download .html for a complete styled page.

What people use it for

  • Writing a README or documentation page and checking how it will look before committing
  • Preparing a blog post in Markdown and pasting the HTML into a CMS that has no Markdown support
  • Turning meeting notes written in Markdown into a shareable web page
  • Learning Markdown syntax by seeing the result appear instantly beside what you type

Good to know

GitHub-flavoured Markdown is enabled, covering tables, fenced code blocks, strikethrough and autolinks. The rendered output is sanitised, so script tags and event handlers in the source are stripped for safety. Copy HTML gives you just the content fragment, while Download .html wraps it in a full page with readable typography and code styling built in.

Frequently asked questions

Are Markdown tables supported?
Yes. GitHub-flavoured Markdown is on, so pipe tables, fenced code blocks, strikethrough and automatic links all render correctly.
What is the difference between Copy HTML and Download .html?
Copy HTML gives the bare content markup to paste into a page you already have. Download .html gives a complete standalone page with styling that opens in any browser.
Is raw HTML in my Markdown kept?
Safe HTML is kept, but the output is sanitised, so script tags, inline event handlers and other risky markup are removed before rendering.
Is my document saved anywhere?
No. The text lives only in the browser tab. Download the file before closing the page, because nothing is stored once the tab is gone.
