Bilingual NLP Chatbot (English + Hindi)

The business question

Many customer messages are the same ten questions: timings, prices, location, order status. In India, many customers prefer to ask in Hindi. Can a simple assistant answer those reliably, in both languages, and pass everything else to a person?

What I built

• A bag-of-words and lemmatisation NLP pipeline
• A custom PyTorch neural network that classifies the intent of each message
• Answers from a business-editable intents.json knowledge base, in English and Hindi
• A Streamlit front end with sign-in, and a modular design that makes new intents easy to add

Where this applies in a business

Front-desk and WhatsApp-style FAQs for clinics, shops, schools and service businesses. The rule that matters: if the bot is not confident, it hands over to a human, rather than guessing.

How success would be measured

The share of questions answered without staff involvement, the hand-over rate, and customer feedback on the answers.
