About Split PDF

Split PDF breaks one PDF into several smaller files. Choose custom page ranges such as 1-3, 4-6, 7- and each range is saved as its own PDF, or split every N pages to chop a long document into equal chunks. The file is read and split inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded and the parts download straight to your device.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Choose the PDF you want to split; the page count is shown once it loads.
  2. Pick Custom ranges to define parts like 1-3, 4-6, 7-, or Every N pages for equal chunks.
  3. Enter your ranges, or the number of pages each file should contain.
  4. Click Split PDF and download each part; files are named after the pages they contain.

What people use it for

  • Pulling one quarter out of a year-long bank statement for an income tax query.
  • Separating a 200-page tender document into technical bid and financial bid files.
  • Breaking a scanned answer booklet into single pages before uploading each one to a portal.
  • Splitting a combined marksheet PDF so each semester can be attached separately.

Good to know

Ranges use the page numbers shown in the PDF, and an open range like 8- means page 8 to the end. Pages are copied as they are, so text, images and quality are untouched. Each part downloads as its own file rather than as a ZIP, and password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before splitting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?
Use commas between parts and hyphens inside them, for example 1-3, 5, 8-12. An open range like 9- means page 9 to the last page. Each part becomes its own downloadable PDF.
Can I get every page as a separate file?
Yes. Switch to Every N pages and set the value to 1. A 30-page PDF then produces 30 single-page files, each named after the page it holds.
Does splitting reduce quality or file size?
Quality is identical because pages are copied, not re-rendered. Each part is smaller simply because it holds fewer pages; use Compress PDF if you need a further reduction.
Is my document sent to a server?
No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser, so confidential statements and legal papers stay on your device. Close the tab and nothing remains in memory.
